Less Good Titles

I'm not saying they're bad titles, but they are, in my humble (but accurate) opionion, less good...

He Likes Dead Things
Vita Nova Ex Stellis Veniet
To Dream Of Hungry Elephants
Come To Me My Love, The Fireman Cried
Healing Pain(t)
Girl With One Green Eye and Cat

'nuff said.

Wow, those are, uh, not so good.

Whew, mine isn't in there...well for now anyway!

Mind you, I'd be intrigued as to who would want to dream of hungry elephants in the first place... ; )

I did find it interesting that "To Dream of Hungry Elephants" did not work for me, yet "The Perils of Government Cheese" did.

Actually, yeah. I'll hazard to say that I find some of those titles (I'm not going to say which, because it doesn't matter) to be interesting. I suspect that it is not only a function of Goodness, but also the reader's mood at any given time. Actually, I think maybe I even like some of them. (Although you're right.. I dislike a couple, too, and doubt that opinion would change regardless of my mood.)

You ought to have a competition to see who can create the worst title. It's also interesting how the titles you listed could be made even worse. For example, "He Likes Dead Things" could become "He Likes Squishy Dead Things." Ugh.

Or indeed, 'He Likes Squishy Dead Things For Christmas', to be a little bit seasonal. ; )

How about "He Likes Dead Squishy Things For Breakfast"?

Hmm, sounds quite 'appetising'...an image of semi-pureed oysters popped into my head...ughh! However, I'm sure there are worse things...(shudder)
